EOC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MET IN ICELAND ON THE OCCASION OF THE NOC 100th ANNIVERSARY

Reykjavik, 28th January – the EOC Executive Committee's first meeting of the year coincided with the celebrations for the centenary of Icelandic Olympic Sport held in the Icelandic capital.

Following a morning dedicated to plans for the year's activities, including the EOC Seminar in Budapest, the ANOC General Assembly in Moscow – where an Extraordinary General Assembly of the European Association will also take place on April 12th – and the General Assembly in Eilat (ISR) in December, in the afternoon, President Patrick Hickey (IRL), Secretary General Raffaele Pagnozzi (ITA) and their colleagues joined NOC President Olafur Rafnsson and Minister for Sport Katrin Jakobsdottir, and a large audience of sports fans, at the City Hall for the celebrations organised in honour of sportsmen and sportswomen of this small but dynamic country, where special tribute was paid to Vilhjálmur Einarsson , triple-jump silver medallist at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia.

The EC's next meeting will take place in Budapest on April 26th, on the eve of the annual EOC seminar.
