KOSOVO 25th MEMBER OF THE MEDITERRANEAN GAMES

Washington, November 5, 2015 – During the Extraordinary General Assembly of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games held on 30th October in Washington DC the members of ICMG accepted the NOC of Kosovo as a new member of the body that governs the Mediterranean Games.

The decision was taken in conformity with the principles of the Olympic Movement and in the wake of the resolutions made by the IOC, the EOC and ANOC.

EOC President Patrick Hickey was at the General Assembly as honorary guest, together with ANOC President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, ANOCA President Intendant General Lassana Palenfo, Pere Miró, IOC Deputy Director General for Relations with the Olympic Movement, and Jérôme Poivey, IOC Head of Institutional Relations & Governance.

Kosovo Olympic Committee President Besim Hasani expressed his NOC’s delight at having been accepted as a Member the ICMG, which opens the way to Kosovo’s participation at the next edition of the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona, Spain, in 2017.
