-100 DAYS TO GAMES OF SMALL STATES OF EUROPE

National Olympic Committee and the whole San Marino’s population celebrated 100 days to the Games of the Small States of Europe that open  on May 29 next in the presence of IOC President Thomas Bach.

Special ceremonies were organised Saturday 18 February on the Titan Rock, the small oldest Republic inserted on the Italian peninsula, to mark feverish preparations to welcoming the Games’ third cycle with one week of live sport with 13 disciplines for 143 total events.

NOC president Gian Primo Giardi and Secretary General Eros Bologna attended the celebrations. The top event of the day was the medals disclosure: medals in the shape of the San Marino territory, for the first time  showing the flags of the eight participating countries in addition to San Marino (Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco and Montenegro), the countries with less than one million inhabitants in the continent.

Competitions will run until 3rd May. Itwill be the third time the Games are hosted in San Marino, the very place their history was started in 1985.
