2013 OLYMPIC DAY IN EUROPE

Rome, 26th June – At the invitation of the International Olympic Committee, the planet got moving on the occasion of the 65th Olympic Day on June 23rd.
Celebrating the creation of the modern Olympic Movement, Olympic Day is an appeal to all people, regardless of their age and ability, to share the joy of sport, to move, to discover new sports and learn about the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.
In Europe, some 205 events were held across the continent, with NOCs focusing attention on this annual appointment on their websites, with reports on the events organised in their country.
And in particular, the British Olympic Association, which was one of nine NOCs to have celebrated the first Olympic Day in 1948, but also the NOCs Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Iceland, Lithuania, Moldova, Portugal and Switzerland, not to mention Russia and the OCOG for the next winter Olympics in Sochi, which all competed in sports, cultural and recreational initiatives aimed primarily at children, but without forgetting the manymore or less energetic young adults who all came together under the banner of the slogan “Move, learn and discover”.
