The City of Györ, organizer of the next summer EYOF, has just hosted the visit of the EYOF Coordination Commission and Technical Delegates from the European Federations.

The visit took place during the last week of October and acted as a thorough check-up on preparations. The Organising Committee and the CoCom spent many intensive sessions with all OC departments and discussed in detail the stage of preparations of each of these functional areas.

This was also the Technical Delegates’ first visit to Györ in connection with the organization of the EYOF. They received a general presentation, made a detailed inspection of sports venues and discussed all organisational details with their respective sports counterparts in the OC.

The outcome from the visit is very positive. The OC has made great progress since the last CoCom visit. All functional areas are in very good shape. Construction work on the Athletes´ Village and the new big sports complex that will host four sports are proceeding according to planned schedule. Some of the test events have been already organised, and others are planned for the coming months. Volunteer recruitment is also proceeding very successfully. Awareness of the event can be felt everywhere around Györ but also in the whole country. Mascot Hugoo is a much loved figure, taking part in all public events organised in Györ.

All in all, we can say that both the CoCom and the Technical Delegates left Györ with very good feelings and with the firm belief that the Györ EYOF will be hosted at top level, and provide all participants with great conditions and services.

The Chefs de Mission meeting will be held in Györ 25-28 April 2017, and the event itself from 22nd to 30th July 2017.
