Juraj Slafkovsky is in the final five candidates for the 2022 Winter Piotr Nurowski “Best European Young Athlete” Prize.

A star was born during the Olympic Games Beijing 2022, when the 18-year-old played an integral part in Slovakia’s ice hockey bronze medal.

“Representing my country at the Olympic Games was an amazing experience, and I am so pleased to have returned with a medal,” he says.

Slafkovsky was selected for the Beijing 2022 All-Star team and is destined to become one of Europe’s best players in recent history.

“I am proud to have won the MVP at Beijing 2022, especially as the youngest player in the competition. But ice hockey is a team game and my ultimate goal is to work with my teammates to win Olympic gold for Slovakia.”
