Finnish sport has seen a lot of structural changes in recent months, changes that began with the NOC and the Sport Confederation VALO merging at the beginning of this year, and becoming a partner of the EOC EU Office in Brussels.

Chaired by President Timo Ritakallio, who has teken over from Risto Nieminen, since January 2017 the NOC also has a new Board of Directors that includes vice president Susanna Rahkamo, vice president Jukka Rauhala, and members Eki Karlsson, Arja Saakslahti, Matti Nurminen, Anne Vierela, Lasse Mikkelson, Antti Zitting, athlete member Sari Multala (Olympian, sailing), athlete member Olli-Pekka Karjalainen (Olympian, athletics), and IOC member Sari Essayah.

After Secretary General Teemu Japisson stepped down recently, earlier this month the NOC Board of Directors named Mikko Salosen the Finnish Olympic Committee’s new CEO and Secretary General.

A graduate in engineering, Salosen has worked in a number of management positions in sport. He worked in the Finnish Orienteering Federation as president from 2003-2008 and is currently the Vice-President of the International Orienteering Federation.

He will take up office in August 2017.
