Pierre-Olivier Beckers was elected President of the NOC for the fourth time at the general assembly of the Belgian Olympic Committee at the Belfius Congress Center in Brussels on June 2, where all fifteen members of the Belgian EB were also elected.

Of the seven women who ran, five were elected. And with five members of the previous board having arrived at the end of their mandate (Anne d’Ieteren, Philip Berben, Cyriel Coomans, Jan Verstuyft and Thierry Zintz), and two having decided to step down (Philippe Rogge and André Stein), this opened the way for a good share of new blood.

“I am looking forward to working with this new Board of Directors which – as you have seen – has been significantly modified tonight,” said President Beckers, who continued: “As I said at the meeting I am also happy to be able to offer some stability to the COIB and to be able to share my experience with the new members”.

“As far as I am concerned, as you know, this mandate will be the last for me because I have proposed limiting the number of terms for the President of the COIB to four.”

The new COIB Board, chaired by Pierre-Olivier Beckers, a member of the Belgian Hockey Association, comprises 7 French-speaking members, 7 Dutch-speaking members and one German-speaking member.
