RATKO KOVACIC FROM CROATIA NEW PRESIDENT OF EPC

European Paralympic Committee (EPC) held its Conference and electoral General Assembly in Katowice, Poland between June 15 and 17, 2017.

EOC – whose cooperation with EPC is based on Memorandum of Understanding which was officially signed between the two organisations in 2013, at EOC Dublin Assembly – was represented by Polish NOC President and EOC EC member Andrzej Krasnicki.

At his welcome speech President Krasnicki addressed to the gathered high EPC representatives
on behalf of the EOC Acting President Mr Janez Kocijancic his best wishes of successful meeting in favour of worldwide sports development and improvement of the relations between both European organisations. At the end of the speech, President Krasnicki handed to the EPC President a specially dedicated EOC plaque, commemorating the meeting in Katowice.

The attendance of the President of the International Paralympic Committee Sir Philip Craven enriched the EPC GA and Congress.

Voting members elected head of the Croatian Paralympic Committee Ratko Kovacic, as the new President of the Executive Board, Mr Terje Jentoft Roel from Norway as Vice-President, and five other board members.

The Assembly approved reports of outgoing Executive Board and warmly thanked the former President Mr John Petersson, Executive Board members and all commissions for outstanding performance during the last four period. Mr Petersson is leaving EPC after eight successful years of service and will continue his activity in International Paralympic Committee (IPC), being also a candidate for IPC President.

Currently EPC has fifty six members, among them forty-nine National Paralympic Committees and seven other organizations active in Paralympic sport.
