Like always in such occasions, it is a crazy time in Gyor, where organisers have only 30 days left to fine-tune last details to offer young participants and their entourage a fantastic experience.

The athletes long list is closing, guests are registering, while some 20 observers from future EYOF organisers from Sarajevo & East Sarajevo 2019, and Kosice 2021, as well as potential bidders ( Slovenia and France enlisted) are prepared to travel to Gyor to improve their know-how.

The EYOF Ambassadors group is actively working on planning activities and meetings points for their young colleagues during the Festival. The group is closely monitoring the Fun Zone 4000sq area, with a 800qm big tent, and some small tents around it which will be filled with fun activities for the athletes and volunteers, and where the Ambassadors (who will receive special tee-shirts) will welcome athletes.

The EOC and the Olympic Culture and Legacy Commission created a special leaflet to present the Ambassadors to the Gyor participants. Their role will be to get to know the athletes, to bring them close to athletes from other countries and to help all of them to have fun and enjoyment while making new friends and learning about Olympism and its values of Friendship, Respect and Excellence.

The national EYOF Torch Relay arrives in Budapest this weekend, so people can get a feel for the capital of the European Youth Olympic Festival atmosphere.

As per the kick off Opening Ceremony, the organizers promise a spectacular show and unforgettable moments. “During the Olympics broadcasts of the opening ceremony, special attention is directed and we are confident that this will not be different for Gyor too, because we are preparing a catchy, unique and beautiful overture – said Zsolt Borkai mayor, chairman of the organizing committee presenting the ceremony in a press conference a few days ago.

On Thursday, one month to the Opening Ceremony, Fábián László, the Hungarian Olympic Committee, Acting Secretary General of the NOC, participated in  an interview by M1 Hungarian Television where he detailed the last deadlines of the preparation.

A good list of accredited journalists from media and National Olympic Committees are coming from abroad to cover the event. They will indeed have much to report of Gyor EYOF between July 23 and 29 – when 2500 athletes between 14 and 18 years and 1100 coaches and assistants from 50 European countries to attend competitions in ten sports events.
