The Norwegian Confederation of Sports has presented its new secretary general: Ms Karen Kvalevåg, who will start in her new position next October 1st.
Kvalevåg is from Karmøy, in Southern Norway. She has a degree in economics from the University of Stavanger and is a chartered accountant from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH).
She has senior management experience from several major organizations. Among these are Umoe Restaurants (parent company of Joe’s Pizza, Burger King Scandinavia, Blender, TGI Fridays Scandinavia, and Starbucks Scandinavia) and Løvenskiold Handel (consisting of Maxbo, Maxbo Proff and Løvenskiold Logistics). In 2016, she was general manager of SK Vidar and Oslo Marathon.
NOC President president Tom Tvedt said: “We are very pleased to have Karen join the team that will develop Norwegian sport further. She has extensive and relevant experience as a manager and knows what is required in developing large organizations. Karen takes on a great responsibility to renew Norwegian sport together with the NOC Executive Board and employees. Behind the appointment is a thorough process of tests, interviews and extensive reference checks. Karen turned out to be an excellent candidate for the job. Now we look forward to welcoming her at Idretts House from October 1”.

Karen Kvalevåg commented: “I’m really looking forward to taking on challenging and exciting tasks in the largest popular movement. Not least, I’m looking forward to getting to know all of the skilled workers in the NOC and develop cooperation with other organizational units in sport. I strongly believe that we will further develop sport based on a value-based culture – and a high degree of transparency. This applies both to efforts to create enjoyment of sport for even more people, and in the development of elite national sport for Norway”.
