PORTUGAL – 2nd SPORTS INTEGRITY FORUM

The 2nd Forum of Sport of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) was held last Monday in Gondomar, in the east of Portugal’s Porto Metropolitan Area, to discuss and deepen the strengthening of international cooperation in safeguarding integrity in sport. The CPLP includes nine countries: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste.

A keynote speaker was Director General of the Portuguese Olympic Committee João Paulo Almeida, who addressed the challenges and threats to the integrity of sport and the instruments that the NOC implements with the federations in this area. The panel was moderated by the journalist Alexandre Afonso and was also attended by José Lima, of the National Plan for Ethics in Sport.

The session was chaired by Secretary of State for Youth and Sport João Paulo Rebelo, and was attended by Diogo Guia and Emanuel Medeiros (International Center for Sport Security), Salazar Picardo (Director General of the National Sports Institute of Mozambique), Gerson Melo (sports coordinator CMJD-CPLP), Jorge Carvalho (Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth) and Camila Diógenes, head of the office of the Secretary General of the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture).
