RUSSIA – MEETING WITH NOC REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE CIS, BALTIC STATES AND GEORGIA.

The Olympic Committee of Russia’s headquarters recently welcomed  a meeting of ROC leaders with NOC representatives from the CIS (the Commonwealth Independent States), Baltic countries  and Georgia.

The event was attended by the President of the National Olympic Committee of Latvia Aldonis Vrublevskis, the Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus Nikolay Ananiev, the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia Emzar Zenaishvili, the Secretary General of the NOC of Azerbaijan Agadzhan Abiyev and the Executive Director of the NOC of Kazakhstan Serik Kaskabasov

The Russian side was represented by the president of the ROC Alexander Zhukov, the presidential aide, the vice-president of the ROC Igor Levitin, the honorary president of the ROC, the head of the Independent Public Anti-Doping Commission Vitaly Smirnov, the first vice president of the ROC Stanislav Pozdnyakov and the general director of the ROC Vladimir Sengleev.

The main topics discussed were the 131st IOC session in Lima in September, the anti-doping policy, as well as the measures being taken in Russia to combat the use of illegal drugs in sports and create an effective national anti-doping system. The participants expressed their conviction for the need to expand cooperation between the national Olympic committees, strengthen ties, exchange information and implement joint projects.

During the meeting, NOC representatives from the CIS, Baltic and Georgia countries also got acquainted with the capabilities of the ROC Innovation Center, its projects and prospects for further development.

To conclude, the participants warmly congratulated the head of the Organizational Department of the ROC Yury Yuryev on his 60th anniversary.
