Giulio Onesti – the first president of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), IOC Member, as well as the pioneer of many initiatives that have marked the Olympic Movement – was remembered at the Olympic Preparation Center, which bears his name, yesterday 9 July in the Italian capital.

Thanks to CONI School of Sport – one of Giulio Onesti’s “creation”, along with other essential institutions such as IOC Olympic Solidarity and the Association of National Olympic Committees – the life and gestures of the Italian lawyer were traced in front of an audience of sports leaders, champions, athletes and sports enthusiasts.

CONI President Giovanni Malagò, former CONI President and IOC Member Franco Carraro, together with many Olympians who had the honor of meeting Onesti, as well as group of younger sports addicted, also featured the exhibition, which was put in place by the students of the School of Sport, headed by Rossana Ciuffetti.

Every year, the Giulio Onesti Foundation presents an annual prize to leaders or athletes who have best represented the Olympic values. After Juan Antonio Samaranch, Jacques Rogge and many others, this year the prize went to the swimmer Federica Pellegrini, Olympic medallist as well as one of the most precious Italian sport jewels.
