A caravan of 23 moto-bikers, who are tasked with bringing the 2nd European Games Flame of Peace from Rome to Minsk, started their journey to Italy on 27 April.

The members of “The one chapter Belarus” biker club left from Minsk’s Memorial Church of All Saints, where they were greeted by their family and friends, as well as Minsk 2019 Mascot Lesik, the Minsk European Games Organising Committee (MEGOC) Team and Belarusian journalists.

“I’m a little anxious but at the same time excited” Head of the Belarusian Biker club Yevgeny Beyzak said. “The journey is quite long, but this is similar to the slight pre-competition jitters among athletes”.

The travel total distance will be of around 7,700 km and every motorcycle will display the national flag and the official Torch Relay flag, with the aim of raising people’s awareness about Belarus and the European Games.

After being lit in Rome on 3 May, the Torch will travel towards Belarus accompanied by the motorcade of Belarusian bikers, crossing 55 locations in five European countries: Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia.

The Athletes from the Belarusian Climbing and Mountaineering Federation will bring the Flame of Peace to the top of Mont Blanc on 5-7 May.

The Flame of Peace will conclude its journey at the Dinamo Stadium in Minsk, with the lighting of the Olympic cauldron.
