5 FINALISTS FOR BEST WINTER EUROPEAN YOUNG ATHLETE UNVEILED

The European NOCs have expressed their preference naming the 5 finalists who will run for Best Winter European Young Athlete. Girls are again favoured with 4 names: Magdalena EGGER (AUT) Alpine Skiing, Annika Sophie MORGAN (GER) Snowboard, Alexandra TRUSOVA (RUS) Figure Skating, Petra RUSNAKOVA (SVK) Short Track. The only boy is Attila TALABOS (HUN) Short Track.

The winner of the 4th Winter Piotr Nurowski Prize will be announced during the 40th EOC Seminar in Vienna (Austria) next 18-19 May. All five finalists will be awarded with a financial support for training and educational purposes. The winning athlete will receive an amount of €15,000, while the second and third-place finishers will secure €8,000 and €5,000 respectively. The fourth and fifth place athletes, meanwhile, both will receive €3,000.

Last year the Winter prize went to young talented French biathlete Camille Bened, who continues to add successes to her young sport career, including a gold medal at the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival last year in Erzurum, Turkey.
