It is with profound sadness that the EOC learn of the loss of FIG Honorary President Bruno Grandi.

The Italian 85-year old has dedicated all his life to sport, playing a paramount role in the transformation and growth of gymnastics in Italy and worldwide.

His long service on the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) was also of great value and illustrates the breadth and depth of his work in international sport over many years.

A gymnast, a coach, a judge, a very competent technician, a professor, an administrative leader, Bruno is dear to all the Olympic Family. The Olympic movement is grateful to him for his great contribution in the fight for ‘sporting justice’, for good ethics, honesty and the safeguard of athletes.

EOC Secretary General Raffaele Pagnozzi also expressed his sadness in remembering his friend and colleague “He left an indelible mark in all our hearts. We will always remember him, his overwhelming passion, his kindness.”
