The Latvian Olympic Committee (LOC) elected Žoržs Tikmers as the new president of the organisation, at its last General Assembly on 10 July 2020.

Tikmers received 84 votes and will lead LOC after a longstanding office in the NOC, serving first as Vice President (1992-2012) and then as Secretary General (2012-2020).

He takes over Aldons Vrubļevskis who has been working within the LOC for 32 years and will continue to be part of the body in his duties as Executive Director of Olympians’ Social Fund.

Vrubļevskis, who is also a Member of the EOC Audit Committee since 2014, decided not to run for the elections earlier this year.

“Your contribution to the Olympic movement and commitment to the EOC have been priceless and I cannot thank you enough”, said EOC Secretary General Raffaele Pagnozzi.

Karlis Lejnieks was elected LOC Secretary General.
