President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach inaugurated today the digital exhibition of the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC).

The digital exhibition features all the modern Greek Olympic medallists and great moments from the Olympic Flame, as one of the most powerful symbols of Olympism.

“I would like to thank President Bach on this first trip to Greece after his re-election, which is a great honour for our country. Throughout the years of his term, the IOC President has proved in many ways that Greece has a special place in his heart,” said HOC President Spyros Capralos.

“The digital exhibition is a minimal tribute to all those who honoured our country in the most important sporting events since 1896,” Capralos continued.

With the contribution of the Olympic Channel, HOC will be able to be constantly updated on the developments of the Olympic Movement and showcase its most valuable highlights.

In addition, the Olympians will elect today their representative to the HOC General Assembly following the amendment of the NOC Statutes.

President Bach congratulated HOC on these important milestones: “It is a great pleasure to be in Athens for many reasons. The elections of the athletes’ representatives in the Plenary Session today, the new lighting at the Panathenaic Stadium and the digital exhibition reflect the content of the Agenda 2020.”

Following his speech, the IOC President awarded Capralos with an IOC gift reflecting the shape of the Olympic House.

“Greece today has a triple lead. Beside being the first country to always enter the stadium first at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games, it is the first country I visit after my re-election and is the first country to receive the Olympic House model,” Bach concluded.
