The EOC has unveiled the five finalists for the 2021 Piotr Nurowski “Best Summer European Young Athlete” Prize (PNP).

Again, this year girls are favoured with four nominations: Sky Brown from Great Britain (skateboarding), Adriana Cerezo Iglesias from Spain (taekwondo), Viktoria Listunova from Russia (artistic gymnastics), Adriana Vilagos from Serbia (athletics).  The list is concluded by one boy: David Popovici from Romania (swimming).

The award ceremony is due to take place during the EOC Seminar in Samorin, Slovakia on 25-26 November 2021, with the winner taking home a € 15,000 training scholarship, the second and third place €8,000 and €5,000 respectively, whilst the fourth and fifth will both receive €3,000.

Due to the troubled circumstances caused by COVID-19, the 2020 PNP summer edition was cancelled as athletes were not able to compete.

2019 summer prize went to world silver medallist Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh, who continues to add successes to her brilliant career.

The annual prize is awarded to young, up-and-coming athletes that over the past years have showcased not only outstanding sporting achievements, but also exceptional conduct on and off the field of play. It was created in memory of former President of the Polish Olympic Committee Piotr Nurowski who tragically died in 2010 in a plane crash.

The prize has been awarded to deserving summer athletes since 2010 while a winter edition has been in place since 2016.
