European Olympic Committees (EOC) Executive Committee member Annamarie Phelps has been elected as a member of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) Consultative Committee Bureau.

Ms Phelps, who chairs the EOC’s Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Commission, will serve a two-year term of office.

The EPAS was established by the Council of Europe in 2007 and provides a platform to enhance cooperation on European sporting issues between its member states and encourage dialogue between public authorities, sports federations and NGOs.

The EOC is committed to helping shape the future of values-based European sport through increased representation in European institutions. The election of Ms Phelps to the EPAS Consultative Committee will enable the EOC to contribute to improving governance of European sport, with the aim of making it more ethical and more inclusive.

Ms Phelps said: “I am honoured to be elected to the Consultative Committee Bureau of the EPAS, which plays a vital role in promoting cooperation between various stakeholders in European sport. I am proud to be part of the increased representation for the EOC in European institutions as we play a leading role in inspiring sport and healthy lifestyles across the continent.”
