Olympic Games Paris 2024: follow European athletes’ successes

Categories: EOC · Olympic Movement

It is one week until the spectacular Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 takes place on the River Seine.

Thousands of European athletes are finalising their preparations as they strive for success amid growing excitement across the continent and around the world.

European athletes have dominated the medal table at recent editions of the Games and are again hopeful of winning more than 40% of the podium positions available, potentially even improving on the 522 (48.3%) they won at Tokyo.

There were 118 direct qualification or quota places for their National Olympic Committees (NOCs) earned at last year’s European Games in Kraków-Małopolska and special attention will be paid to the exploits of those athletes who arrived in Paris via those routes.

The European Olympic Committees (EOC) will be marking the successes of athletes from its NOCs across its platforms for the duration of the Olympic Games.

Build-up to Paris 2024 will begin next week and the EOC will be following European athletes closely from the Opening Ceremony on 26 July, which will mark the beginning of the first Games in Europe for more than a decade.

Across its social media platforms – including the EOC’s main accounts (Instagram, X and LinkedIn) and dedicated EG to PAris on X, Instagram and LinkedIn – the EOC will herald the journeys of European athletes, which for many began at Kraków-Małopolska 2023, and celebrate their successes in Paris.

The EOC will also highlight events with European podium sweeps and run a series of engaging features throughout the Olympic Games which capitalise on the eyes of the world being on Europe.

Further content will be available on the EOC’s website.

The EOC wishes all European athletes the very best of luck for their final preparations and looks forward to celebrating their successes in the coming weeks.
