ANOC MOVES TO LAUSANNE

Categories: Misc.

The Olympic Capital, 25th June the worldwide Association of National Olympic Committees has moved from Paris to Lausanne, where it has set up its new HQ opposite the Palace Hotel, which is the traditional hotel for passing IOC Members.

The inauguration of the new premises took place last Tuesday in the presence of ANOC President Don Mario Vazquez Rana, IOC President Jacques Rogge, and a host of IOC members, Ifs representatives and authorities from the world of sport and the city of Lausanne.

The secretariat will become operative after mid-July.

ANOC had been based in Paris since 1981, but it was decided to move to Lausanne as it is the heart of the Olympic Movement. This will mean that visiting heads of NOCs will benefit from a better location, close to the IOC and also numerous International Federations, allowing for a more effective coordination of joint actions ANOC has to carry out together with the IOC, Olympic Solidarity and a high number of International Federations headquartered in this city.
