BERLIN WELCOMED THE EOC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Berlin, September 17 The German NOC paid a very special welcome to President Patrick Hickey and his team for their 3rd meeting of the year, which took place in an hotel near by the famous Brandenburg Gate.

The Executive Committee members addressed topical issues, mainly related to the feasibility study for the launching of European Games, the recent and very successful Singapore Youth Olympic Games, future Olympic Games and preparation of the forthcoming November General Assembly in Belgrade.

In memory of their late friend Piort Nurowski (POL) who died in the recent plane accident which in April claimed the lives of Polish President and several public authorities, the EOC Executive Board unanimously agreed to create a special Prize for the “Best European Young Athlete” an idea that Piort did not had time to implement.

At the end of the Berlin meeting , the members travelled to Warsaw where they visited the grave of their late friend. In Belgrade, at the EOC General assembly, Piotr will be posthumously awarded the EOC Order of Merit.
