Prague, 13 October – A celebration to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1960 Squaw Valley and Rome Olympics was held last week at the Czech Television headquarters in Kav?í Hory.

The event organized by the Czech Olympic Committee was attended by three dozen 1960 Czechoslovak Olympians.

Among them was the legendary gymnast V?ra ?áslavská, who took silver in the team competition, Lud?k Pojezný, who took bronze in coxed eights rowing, bronze medallist in Greco-Roman wrestling, Bohumil Kubát and bronze medal boxer Josef N?mec.

The Czech team brought home eight medals, including three golds, from the Rome Summer Olympics. The winter edition in Squaw Valley was a success for the figure skater Karol Divín, who took silver, the only medal won by the small-sized Czech Olympic team.

At the celebration, Karol Divín said he had kept the key from his room in Squaw Valley Olympic Village as a keepsake of the event. Memories to share had another participant, the legendary ice hockey player Karel Gut, whose team came 4th after losing to USA.

Czech Television showed a one-hour live broadcast of the gathering.
