With 620 days to go to London 2012, on the 15th and 16th of this month the Italian Olympic Committee held its meeting of the States General of Italian Sport in the CONI Hall of Honour to discuss strategies for future Olympics.

CONI President Mr. Giovanni Petrucci and Secretary General Mr. Raffaele Pagnozzi opened the workshop on “CONIs Strategies and Projects for Olympic and High Performance Sport”, in the presence of the Presidents, Secretaries General and National Technical Directors of the National Sports Federations and Associate Disciplines.

With the help of several national and international experts, the Italian competitive sports movements highest representatives spent 2 days discussing future strategies in view of the next Olympics.

President Petrucci talked about the state of Italian sport and the importance of government support to the Olympic Movement, whilst Secretary General Raffaele Pagnozzi focused on preparations for London 2012 and beyond. He said, “we need to work hard if we want to stay at the top of world sport, because in sport he who hesitates is lost,” and added, “we need a generation change, and also to update our techniques and exploit modern technological and scientific discoveries”.
