ISRAELI NOC PRAISED BY UN SPECIAL ADVISOR ON SPORTS COOPERATION

Tel Aviv, 11th February While visiting Israel and the Palestinian Authority, Wilfried Lemke, the UN Special Advisor on Sport for Development and Peace, was hosted by Zvi Varshaviak President and Mr. Efraim Zinger Secretary General of the Olympic Committee of Israel.

At the meeting held at the NOC Headquarters, Mr. Lemke praised the Israeli Olympic Committee position which was presented at the meeting in Lausanne with Mr. Jibril Rajoub President of the Palestinian Olympic Committee and with the attendance of Dr. Jacques Rogge President of the International Olympic Committee.

Mr. Lemke offered his help in promoting and increasing the cooperation between the nations in region relying on his belief and perception that sports promotes understanding between nations and peoples.

President Varshaviak said: “In the meeting held in Lausanne we offered the Palestinian Olympic Committee our cooperation in preparing their Elite athletes to London in 2012. We have offered professional teams and joint training camps in Israel, and we are still waiting for his agreement to cooperate.”

At the end of the official meeting, Me Lemke had a tour at the Olympic Committee Experience Museum.
