SWISS OLYMPIC SELL BY AUCTION ITEMS BELONGING TO OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS

Ittigen (Canton of Bern), 31July – until 15August, Swiss Olympic will be auctioning off items from athletes at the London 2012 Games. Some will be freshly up for auction right after competitions at www.ricardio.ch/ swissolympic. The proceeds will be donated to the Swiss Sports Aid. Sports enthusiasts have the opportunity to buy a unique part of the Swiss sport history while supporting tomorrow’s champions.

A tennis racquet used by Roger Federer, the training clothing of artistic gymnast Giulia Steingruber and beach volleyball outfit from Sebastian Chevallier are the first auction items online. “It is with this t-shirt I got last-minute qualification for the Olympics, so it is filled with emotions,” said Sebastian Chevallier signing his article before auctioning. The player beach volleyball is one of over 400 aspiring athletes receiving financial support from the Sports Aid thereby benefiting personally from this auction.

Sports enthusiasts and collectors have until the end of the Olympic Games, namely mid-August to participate in the auction on www.fr.ricardo.ch / swissolympic. Every day, new belongings of sportsmen and women of the “Swiss Olympic Team 2012” come directly from London.

After “Athens 2004”, “Torino 2006”, “Beijing 2008” and “Vancouver 2010”, Swiss Olympic is organizing this charity auction for the fifth time. At the Olympics in Vancouver, glasses belonging to Swiss ski jumper Simon Ammann, generated CHF 5200, as highlights of the sale.
