Helsinki, 8th October at a ceremony at the Olympic Stadium, NOC president Roger Talermo and his colleagues from the Finnish world of sport and Olympism celebrated Jouko Purontakanen, the NOC’s secretary general since 1996, now retired, underlining the great commitment he put into promoting Finnish sport during his forty year long career.
During his stint as secretary general, Jouko Purontakanen was also an assiduous and much appreciated participant at EOC meetings.
As of the beginning of this month his post has been taken up Mika Sulin.
