FRENCH SPORTS MINISTER TO REPRESENT EUROPE WITHIN WADA BOARD

Paris, 10th October the Council of Europe has named Valérie Fourneyron, who was appointed French sports minister last 16th May, European representative within the WADA Board.
The Board, composed of 12 members, half from the Olympic Movement and half from governments, so as to ensure equal representation, runs the Agency, planning its activities and administering its funds.
Valérie Fourneyron replaces Jaime Lissavetsky, from Spain, and, as French representative, she succeeds Jean-François Lamour, who was a WADA vice-president until he ceased being French sports minister in 2007.
A sports doctor by training and onetime medic for the French volleyball team, and involved in the drafting of the 1989 anti-doping laws, Valérie Fourneyron will be attending the meetings WADA is holding at its HQ in Montreal (CAN) next month but will only be officially instated in her new role as of 1st January 2013.
