Paris, 24th May – the general assembly of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) met yesterday at its HQ, the Maison du Sport Français, and elected the executive board for 2014-2016.
Incumbent Denis Masseglia, 66, was re-elected unopposed with an absolute majority, at the first round, and will thus lead the CNOSF for a further four years.
In his acceptance speech, Denis Masseglia called for all the French sports movement to rally. “Everyone must participate intensely in the life of the CNOSF,” he said. “We do not have the resources to be split and must be absolutely together, as much as possible. Our strength can only be collective. Alone I can convey messages, but I will not be audible. With all of you by my side, we can ensure that these messages are effective.” He in particular expressed the wish that “more and more French people may come to sport, and that French sport may shine thanks to its athletes, officials, and the events it organizes,” adding that “our mission is to place sport at the heart of a social project.”
