2013 SUMMER EYOF – SPORT AND CULTURE AT ONCE

Utrecht, 18th July three information points on Olympism and its history have been set up at the three Villages that will house the young athletes for the duration of the 12th European Youth Olympic Festival.
The initiative comes from the EOC Culture and Education commission led by Spyros Capralos (GRE), and aims to give participants at the Utrecht EYOF an opportunity to discover the history of the Modern Olympic Movement, launched by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, who revived the ancient Greek Olympic Games, and learn about its values and ideals.
The young boys and girls who visit the stands can consult and also take away materials on the subject, and are invited to test their knowledge with a quiz on the world of Olympism, for which they receive small gifts can meet Olympic high-jump champion Inga Babakova, from Russia.
