EOC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETS IN CYPRUS

Protraras (Cyprus), 21st September invited by the Olympic Committee of Cyprus, the EOC Executive Committee held its third and last but one meeting of the year in the splendid holiday resort full of Cypriots and other Europeans.

At the opening ceremony, Ouranios Ioannides, the President of the hosting NOC, and his Secretary General Charalambos Lottas came to welcome President Patrick Hickey, Vice-President Alexander Kozlovsky, Secretary General Raffaele Pagnozzi, treasurer Kikis Lazarides, a fellow Cypriot and onetime colleague who has been recently named Honorary President, and the Members of the EOC Executive Committee. The NOC of Cyprus is indeed a very active member of the EOC and will be hosting the 2014 EOC Seminar next spring.

The agenda for the meeting contained a number of important items, including the inaugural Baku 2015 European Games, the results of the IOC Session in Buenos Aires, the activities of the Commissions, and in particular preparations for the European Athletes Assembly and Forum in Poreç, Croatia, next 4th and 5th October, when a new Athletes Commission will be elected for the coming quadrennial.

The meeting was also attended by Simon Clegg, a man well known inside the EOC and who is now the EOC senior consultant for the Baku 2015 Games, together with expert Makis Asimakopoulos from Greece.

The next and last EOC Executive Meeting will take place in Rome, next 21st November, on the eve of the EOC General Assembly that will elect its leaders for the next four years.

Protaras, with its golden beaches and crystal clear blue sea was much admired by the Members of the EOC once the meeting ended.
