Categories: Misc.

Sochi, 30th January – more than half of all the Sochi 2014 volunteers have already arrived in the Olympic host city and are welcoming visitors to the Games. Young and energetic volunteers, whose average age is 25 years, are becoming a key part of the “Komanda 2014” (“Team 2014”) and creating a unique Olympic atmosphere. They are currently collecting accreditation and uniforms, studying the venues, and preparing to meet more athletes and guests. For the first time in the Olympic history volunteers will be provided with accommodation, food, transport and excellent uniforms.

In all, 25,000 volunteers will be involved in the Sochi Games making this the most ambitious volunteer program in the history of modern Russia. Development of a volunteering spirit is one of the key legacies of the Games.

19,000 volunteers will be working at the Olympic Games. Of these, 15,000 will come from different cities in Russia and from more than 60 foreign countries. Approximately 60% of the total number of volunteers will work on the Coastal Cluster venues, and 40% – in the Mountain Cluster venues.
