YOUNG REPORTERS TO EXPERIENCE FIRST EUROPEAN GAMES

Lausanne/Baku, April 8, 2015 – Young reporters, aged between 18 and 26 have a few days left to send in their application for a chance to experience and cover the first European Games in Azerbaijan this summer in a programme organised by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) and Baku 2015.
Young Reporters Programme will see 12 multi-media journalists cover the first ever European Games.
The international team of five male and five female journalists will have the unique opportunity to become part of the Baku 2015 team and benefit from working in a major sports event environment.
In addition, there will also be two young reporters from Azerbaijan selected, as part of Baku 2015’s promise to leave a lasting legacy of an improved and experienced workforce after the European Games.
The Young Reporters can be journalism students, interns, or journalists already working in mainstream media
The young reporters must be nominated by their AIPS-affiliated national association, who will then forward the application for consideration before April 15, 2015 to youngreporters@aipsmedia.com.
The candidates, who must hold a passport valid for international travel, will each submit a short essay in English (500 words or less) entitled: ‘Why I wish to be selected for the AIPS Young Reporters Programme during the Baku 2015 European Games, and what benefits I expect to gain from participating’.
The candidates must be proficient in writing and presenting news reports in English.
Successful applicants will be contacted in May, and will have all their travel (economy-class airfares), accommodation and meals covered.
