Rotterdam, April 10, 2015 – Do you like sports? do you enjoy looking at a good movie? from Thursday 9 until Saturday 11, April the Cinerama Film Theatre in Rotterdam is the place for you to be, with the first edition of the Sports Film Festival Rotterdam, an artistic programme where sports movies and documentaries are central, but also talk shows and readings are offered to sports and films fans.
The festival takes place three days before the 35th edition of the Rotterdam Marathon , in collaboration with ‘Anderle Tijden Sport (NOS / VPRO), RTV Rijnmond and Sportnext.
Theater and TV director Wilfried de Jong every day receives several guests from the world of sport in his 45-minute talk show – among others Lucia Richer, former boxer and actress, and Annette van Trigt, sports documentary filmaker who points out how “Sport is a metaphor for life”.

On Saturday, Dutchman and former Formula 1 driver Robert Doornbos will join Wilfried de Jong and speak about his favourite documentary on Ayrton Senna. “Senna is my big idol of motorsport. His documentary is one of the most impressive documentaries I have ever seen.”

The programme includes some of the finest sports films and documentaries, about heroes today and from long ago, about old and emerging sports, well-known and lesser-known sports stories, far away and close to home.
