Rome, November 16, 2015 – In Europe and all over the world, this weekend sportsmen and women along with spectators have been showing their solidarity with France and expressing their emotions after last Friday’s attacks.

Using social media, but also holding moments of silence or chanting the Marseillaise at the beginning of sport matches, such as at the Tennis Cup final between the Czech Republic and Russia, rugby matches like the clash between Toulouse and Saracens, a football charity match in Manchester between a Britain and Ireland XI and a squad made up of players from the rest of the world.

In Italy, the French national anthem, the Marseillaise, echoed across football stadiums this weekend.
Stars from the world of football, formula 1, athletics and tennis expressed their shock and grief on social media.

The Marseillaise will resonate also at Wembley on Tuesday night at the friendly football match between England and France.

On the other side of the Atlantic too, many United States football teams expressed their solidarity with the French people before their game on Saturday.
