NOC OF ESTONIA HAS A NEW PRESIDENT

Tallin, April 21, 2016 –  Mr. Urmas Sõõrumaa, 55, is the new President of the Estonian Olympic Committee. The NOC General assembly elected him during its annual meeting last 15 April in Tallin.

Other candidates were: Jüri Ratas, Estonian politician, former Mayor of Tallinnand Tonu Tõniste. retired sailor from Estonia, who competed in four consecutive Summer Olympics).

Sõõrumaa Takes over from Neinar Seli. Secretary Generai is unchanged, Mr. Siim Sukles.

Urmas Sõõrumaa is a member of the Executive Committee of the Estonian Olympic Committee. His former positions listpresident of the Estonian Tennis Association, Estonian Volleyball Association board member, board member of Estonian Autosport

One of the most influential entrepreneurs in Estonia, Urmas Sõõrumaa chairs various Companies boards. His Foundation at the University of Tartu where he graduated, supports outstanding students of the Faculty of Law. In 2001 he founded the Dharma UrmSõõrumaa charity fund, to support children and young people.
