Tarragona (ESP), May 19, 2016 – President Pat Hickey and EOC Executive Committee members received a fantastic welcome upon their arrival in the Costa Dorada resort for their second meeting of the year and the annual EOC Seminar.

First they were invited to attend a welcome dinner organised last night by the Mayor of Tarragona, Josep Felix Ballesteros, under the vaults of the Roman Circus, the most admired Tarragona World Heritage, together with the President of the Spanish Olympic Committee Alejandro Blanco, host to the European meetings, authorities from Catalonia, and other institutional representatives.

Today, the EC meeting took place at the PortAventura Convention Centre, with President Blanco, himself a member of the decision-making team.

President Hickey left Vice President Janez Kocijan?i? to chair the second part of the EC meeting, so as to accompany King Felipe VI to the unveiling of “Tarracus” the official mascot of the Tarragona 2017 Mediterranean Games, the result of a contest among the city’s children.

The EC members further had the honour to be introduced to the King of Spain and to have lunch with him and Ana Pasto, the Spanish Minister for Public Works and Transport.

A great welcome for the EOC delegates indeed.
