Warsaw, June 10, 2016 – The widow of the late President of the Polish Olympic Committee Piotr Nurowski passed away last 31 May, six years after her husband perished in a tragic plane accident at the Russian border in April 2010.
El?bieta Nurowska is mourned by hers daughters Joanna and Justyna and their families, and Polish sport.
The three ladies attended the EOC General Assembly in Belgrade, when Piotr Nurowski was posthumously awarded the EOC Order of Merit.
The following year the EOC Piotr Nurowski Prize for the Best Young European Athlete was created in honour of this great friend of European sport, Prize that as of 2016 has two editions, one for summer and one for winter sports.
President Patrick Hickey and the whole of the Olympic Movement of Europe extend their condolences to the Polish Olympic Committee and the Nurowski family.
