CZECH OLYMPIC COMMITTEE LAUNCHES “CZECH TEAM – GOLD CLUB” AWARD

Prague, June 14, 2016 – The Executive Committee of the Czech Olympic Committee has for the first time awarded the distinction “Czech Team – Gold Club”. Its purpose is to express appreciation to public personalities who in the long term systematically promote sport and a healthy lifestyle.
The first awardee is Karel Komarek the owner of the largest domestic lottery company Sazka, an official partner of the Czech Olympic team, which contributes to the Czech Olympic Foundation to help children to do sports.
The purpose of the new “Czech Team – Gold Club” award is to highlight exceptionally active approach and personal engagement in the promotion of sport.
As stated by NOC President Jiri Kejval, the logical first choice fell upon the entrepreneur Karel Komarek especially for two decades of generous and systematic support of a wide range of events and clubs. In the last three years he has also actively supported youth sport. “Karel Komarek is the man without whom we could not run several long-term projects designed exclusively for children,” said Kejval, adding,” Karel Komarek supports sport not only as a patron, but he leads by example and is actively dedicated to sport. Therefore, he knows very well and understands how essential a role sport plays in the life of society. “
