EUROPEAN NOCs READY TO ATTEND THE ANOC GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN QATAR

All European National Olympic Committees NOCs delegations are attending the ANOC General Assembly that opens tomorrow for the first time in a Middle East country.

EOC Vice President currently Acting President Janez Kocijancic (SLO), in his position as Vice president of ANOC, will present today to the ANOC Executive Council meeting and tomorrow to the 205 world NOCs the activities of the European Association. Kocijancic is leading the European delegation: EOC Secretary General, Raffaele PAGNOZZI (ITA) and elected members Roger TALERMO (FIN) Vlade DIVAC(SRB) and Nese GUNDOGAN (TUR).

ANOC President Sheuik Al Sabah, Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg and her team, together and the Qatar Olympic Committee are welcoming the world’s NOCs to Doha as a record-breaking 1200 delegates from across the Olympic Movement gather for the largest ever ANOC General Assembly.

Representatives from 205 NOCs as well as IOC President Thomas Bach and delegates from International Federations (IF), Organising Committees (OCOGS) and 2024 Candidate Cities participate in the XXI ANOC General Assembly which will take place on 15-16 November in the Sheraton Convention Centre.

Various ANOC Commission and Working Group meetings are also taking place on the eve of the General Assembly.

The third edition of the ANOC Awards will take place on the evening of 15 November, where the Olympic Movement will come together to recognise great sporting achievements from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The General Assembly, which is being hosted in partnership with the Qatar Olympic Committee, will provide ANOC with an opportunity to update the NOCs on its latest progress as it continues its process of reform and provide a platform for NOCs to actively contribute to the organisation’s future. NOCs will also receive updates on the latest progress of the OCOGs for the upcoming Olympic Winter Games and Olympic Games and learn more about the 2024 Candidate Cities offerings to the Olympic Movement as the cities officially present to the NOCs for the first and only time.
