The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (POCOG) is welcoming more than 200 media to PyeongChang this week for the World Press Briefing.

The four day event in the host city gives media an overview of the current preparations for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games which begin on 9th February 2018 and the test events that begin later this month.
The group will be shown detailed presentations of a range of functional areas to understand the progress being made and the milestones ahead. They will also be taken on a series of venue tours – many of which will be used in the coming months during the test events and training sessions.

Given the close proximity of the venues in PyeongChang – all within 30minutes drive of each other – media are visiting a total of 11 venues within the Mountain and Coastal Clusters during their visit.

Media joining the briefing come from a wide range of national and international news organizations along with representatives from the International Olympic Committee, the organizing committees of Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022- who will host the next summer and winter games respectively, host cities, National Olympic Councils and the International Federations of the Olympic Winter Sports.

The World Broadcasters Meeting will follow a similar format and take place in February 2017.

An official Gala Dinner on the Wednesday evening and the final day offer an opportunity to speak directly to the functional areas to get more details and updates.

The next main focus for POCOG will be the delivery of a busy winter season of test events spanning from November to April. First on the calendar is the FIS Snowboard (Big Air) World Cup from 23-26 November and then the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating will take place from 17-19 December to round off 2016.
