THE NOC OF SLOVAKIA HAS A NEW PRESIDENT

Anton Siekel is the newly president of the Slovakia Olympic Committee, elected by the General Assembly held on 26th November 2016 in Bratislava.

Mr Siekel, 47 years old businessman, honorary President of the Slovak Judo Federation and chair of the SOC Foundation, was elected in the first round of elections where he left behind the remaining three candidates gaining 88 out of 108 valid votes.

He becomes the third president of the Slovak Olympic Committee, established on 19th of December 1992, after Vladimir Černušák (two mandates) and Frantisek Chmelar who has been in the position for the past 17 years.

Chmelar, who is currently a member of the EOC Executive Committee, will also remain active in the Olympic Movement as Honorary President of the NOC.

SOC General Assembly also elected the SOC Executive Committee for the coming 4-year period.

The day before the election, the SOC celebrated the 95th birthday extraordinary jubilee of Honorary NOC President and honorary member of the IOC Vladimir Černušák.
