Almost 70 years of sports history came together at the Landesmuseum when almost 50 Olympians met for the first time on Wednesday evening. Among them were all five Liechtenstein medallists at the Olympic Games: Hanni Weirather-Wenzel, Ursula Gregg-Konzett, Andy Wenzel and Willy and Paul Frommelt enjoyed the evening and exchanged impressions with the other Olympic athletes in attendance.

The oldest was Theodor Sele, who was in skiing in St. Moritz in 1948. In addition, athletes within the Top Ten (Marco “Büxi” Büchel, Johannes Wohlwend, Magnus Büchel) were honoured. Marco Büchel, who took part in six Olympic games, still is a record holder in terms of participation.

Olympians in attendance were unanimously in favour of founding a National Association of Olympics in Liechtenstein. In cooperation with the LOC, the new body will be set up in the coming weeks.

The exhibition “Mythos Olympische Spiele” in the Landesmuseum provided a worthy setting for this event. The exhibition can only be visited until next Sunday, 15 January 2017.
