CONI – MILAN BIDS TO HOST 2019 IOC SESSION

Italian Olympic Committee’s President  Giovanni Malagò,together with the Secretary General, Roberto Fabbricini, yesterday presented – in the Palace of Federations  in Milan, the Milan 2019 application file, to host the 132nd IOC Session. THey were joined by  the Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala and the President of the Lombardy region, Roberto Maroni.

The conference was also attended by the Project Leader of the dossier, Diana Bianchedi, the Councillor for Sports of the Lombardy Region, Antonio Rossi, former chair of the EOC Athletes Commission and EC Member, now Councillor for Sports of the nirthen I talian city.

President Malagò has proudly launched the challenge. “The Milan in 2019 idea was born as a way  of reacting, like sports men do. It ‘a very important project, of great prestige for the city and for the country.”

“Our credit is not only intact, but paradoxically, it was reinforced by how the Roma Olympic bid came to an end. It is a wound that will never heal, a game that unfortunately we did not play, but today we are happy to enter this new challenge to prove who we are and what we want with different stakeholders, of whom we are very proud. ”

Wednesday 15 March marked deadline for bids submission to the IOC . The decision on the hosting city will be taken at the IOC Session to be held September 17, 2017 in Lima, Peru.
