48 out of 50 countries will take part in the winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) Vuokatti 2021.
“This edition of the EYOF will see the highest participation ever!” said EOC Sports Director Peter Brüll. “The widespread interest from participating countries proves the importance of this multi-sport event for European young athletes, as well as provides us even more motivation to further improve the event.”
EYOF Vuokatti 2021 Secretary General Marita Kaipainen highlighted that the country is enthusiast to welcome the best young athletes of Europe along with their teams and families:
“We are organising a range of activities around the competitions,” Kaipainen said. “Among other things, spectators will have the possibility to try out different sports. This will be also open to kindergartens and school groups who are coming to enjoy the event in Vuokatti.”
“Not only we want to allow people to follow top-level competitions, but also to explore the different secrets of each sports. We are making the EYOF Vuokatti 2021 an event for everyone!”
About EYOF Vuokatti 2021
The EYOF will take place from 6 to 13 February 2021 in Vuokatti. The top European young athletes between 14–18 years old will compete in seven winter sports. The competitions will take place in the region of Kainuu, Finland. The urban area of Vuokatti, in the municipality of Sotkamo, will host alpine skiing, biathlon, cross country skiing, figure skating, short track and snowboarding. While the city of Kajaani will host ice hockey events, which for the first time will be also for girls.
