ACAPULCO HOSTS XVII ANOC GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Acapulco, 18th October The representatives of the worlds NOCs are on route for the capital of the State of Guerrero in Mexico, where the General Assembly and a string of other meetings organised by the worldwide association of NOCs will take place between the 19th and the 24th of October.

ANOC President Don Mario Vazquez-Raña is making ready to greet the delegates of the 205 NOCs, the representatives from the International Federations and the delegation from the IOC come for a weeks meetings and talks at the Fairmont Princess Hotel in the famous Mexican seaside resort.

The programme includes a meeting of the ANOC Executive Board on the 18th and 19th of October, which for Europe will be attended by EOC President Patrick Hickey (IRL), Vice-President Alexander Kozlovsky (RUS), Secretary General Raffaele Pagnozzi (ITA), and the two elected delegates Arturas Poviliunas (LIT) and Colin Moynihan (GBR).

Following this and other meetings, including a meeting of the Olympic Solidarity commission and various continental assemblies, the works of the ANOC General Assembly will commence on the 20th and continue until the 22nd of October.

This year, for the first time, ANOC has also organised a World Olympic Sports Convention the aim of which is to reinforce collaboration between NOCs and governments on the subject of sport, which will take place on the 23rd.

The closing event will be a joint meeting of the NOCs and the IOC Executive Board on the 24th of October, at which the NOCs will submit the results of their work to the IOC.
