Albanian NOC hosts 30th General Assembly

The Albania National Olympic Committee’s (NOC) 30th General Assembly saw a focus on preparations for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 and the continued support of sport in schools.

President Mr. Fidel Ylli emphasised in his speech the commitments and projects implemented by the NOC in terms of sports diplomacy and international relations. Furthermore, he highlighted the significant investment by the Albanian Government in the “Sport Teams in Schools” project, promoting sports among young children and laying strong foundations for the future.

Special attention was given to supporting elite athletes and federations, as well as for the preparations and goal planning for Team Albania at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

During the General Assembly, the membership of two federations and four new sports associations as members were approved, as was the election of the newest member of the Verification and Ethics Commission (VEC).

For special contributions to Albanian sports, Viktor Papavangjeli (basketball), Niko Zguro (wrestling) and Kastriot Malaj (athletics) were honoured with Olympic Orders.
