The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) has moved its General Assembly in October from Seoul, Korea to Athens, Greece.

The decision was confirmed following a meeting of the ANOC Executive Council in Tokyo, Japan on 27 July 2021.

Following Covid-19 restrictions in Korea, the body accepted an offer from the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) and the Greek Sports Ministry to stage the event in Athens from 23 to 25 October 2021.

It is the second time that Seoul has been unable to host the event after it was cancelled last year because of coronavirus.

The Greek capital resulted being a possible venue for the meeting after it successfully staged the 50th EOC General Assembly in June, the largest in-person gathering in the Olympic Movement since the pandemic hit last March.

Athens will also host the IOC Session in 2025, following the decision this year to move the 138th IOC Session online.
